Douglas Globemaster Series C-74 C-124 C-17 Transports DVD
This DVD is a collection of vintage films on the C-74 C-124 C-17 Douglas Globemaster Series of U.S. Air Force transport aircraft. Early design roots are from the DC-4 (C-54) as a much larger C-74 Globemaster I. Only 14 were built and the C-74 was developed into the C-124 Globemaster II to easily carry heavy equipment such as tanks globally.
Film #1 - AAF ID C-54 Skymaster - This is an Army Air Forces film on how to identify the DC-4/C-54 Skymaster and its unique features. This film is important because the C-74 Globemaster I got its roots from C-54 Skymaster. Runtime is about 11 minutes.
Film #2 - C-74 Globemaster I - There is very little film footage on the C-74 and only 14 were ever built. In this film called "Operation Vittles", the C-74 along with the C-47, C-54 and British aircraft delivered enough food and supplies for 10 months to save Berlin from the Russian blockade. Rare footage of the C-74. Runtime is about 14 minutes.
Film #3 -Airlift History - This film is called "Airlift to Humanity". It tells the story of the Airlift command from WWII to the 1970s, all over the world. Great story and great footage of planes from the famous C-47, C-54 to the C5-A. Great piece of aviation history. Runtime is about 28 minutes.
Film #4 -C-124 Globemaster II - This is a USAF film about the mighty C-124 Globemaster being used to fly supplies to Antarctic bases. Runtime is about 22 minutes.
Film #5 -C-17 Globemaster III Development - This is a USAF film about the mighty C-17 Globemaster III, from development to the field. Runtime is about 9 minutes.
