Classic Cockpits - Flying the Avro Lancaster DVD.
The Avro Lancaster was the principal heavy bomber of the British RAF during WWII. The Lancaster bomber could drop some of the biggest bombs of the war, up to 22,000 pounds. The RAF Lancaster had crew of seven and was used to bomb German targets at night.
Powered by four Rolls-Royce Merlin engines, the Lancaster plane wreaked havoc on Hitler's heavy industries during World War II, including the famous "Dam Busters Raid" in May, 1943, that used the revolutionary "bouncing bomb" designed by Dr. Barnes Wallis.
The Lancaster plane range was 2530 miles and it could carry a bomb load of 14,000 pounds. The size of the Avro Lancaster bomb bay was 33 feet long which enabled it to carry very large blockbuster and earthquake bombs.
Now, you can step into a Lancaster cockpit for a thrilling pilot's-eye view of a complete flight, from engine start to shutdown.
Filmed with multiple, high definition, on-board cameras, you'll take to the air just like an RAF Lancaster crewman in World War II, enjoy spectacular air-to-air footage of your flight, listen in to the chatter on the intercom, and even accompany the pilot during the pre-flight inspection!
Run time is about 65 minutes. Widescreen in color. Format is NTSC DVD.
