North American B-25 Mitchell Medium WWII Bomber DVD
This DVD is a collection of vintage films on the North American B-25 Mitchell bomber. The B-25 was the famous bomber that bombed the Japanese at the beginning of WWII from the deck of the carrier Hornet. President Roosevelt answered a reporter's question by saying that the raid had been launched from "Shangri-La", the fictional faraway land of the James Hilton novel Lost Horizon.Film #1 - Flying the B-25 - This is a great film created by USN about how to fly the North American B-25 Mitchell Bomber. Single engine training, short field take-offs and lots of great footage of the B-25. Runtime is about 22 minutes.
Film #2 - Earthquakers - This is a film from the US Army Air Forces about the early war in North Africa. Part of the 9th AAF, these B-25's fought the Germans with the RAF. Early color with a runtime of about 20 minutes.
Film #3 - Tokyo Bombed; The Doolittle Raid - This is a collection of films on the the famous Doolittle Raid. The first attack against the Japanese homeland from an American carrier. This is a fascinating story that America really needed after the devastating disaster from Pearl Harbor. Really great footage of this event. Runtime is about 11 minutes.

Film #5 - Retreat and Advance - This is a great film from the series called the USAF Story. There was a battle in late 1944 against the Japanese in China. With little equipment and parts, these guys were able to keep those old B-25s, P-51s, P-40s and B-24s flying against the Japanese. Runtime of about 14 minutes.
Film #6 - B-25 in the Pacific - This is a collection of films on the B-25 fighting in the Pacific. From high and low altitude bombing runs, to equipping a squadron of B-25Gs with 75mm canons, to bombing all around the Pacific. The last part is about a helicopter marking a downed crashed-landed B-25 in a field. "The Cornhusker". Runtime of 16 minutes.
Film #7 - B-25 Xmas Story - A short film on a B-25 that brings Xmas presents to troops on a Pacific Island during WWII. We also added some footage of B-25s flying today. Runtime is about 9 minutes.
