Airports in Vietnam are among the most restricted in the world. However, we are pleased to bring you this rare look at the three major airports in Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) in the south, Da Nang in central Vietnam and Hanoi in the north.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport near Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) originated from the French colonial period in the 1930s. During the 1950s to 1960s, the airport was further improved with longer, paved runways. In the present day, Tan Son Nhat International Airport handles about almost 17 million passengers yearly.
Noi Bai International Airport is located about 28 miles from Hanoi. Noi Bai opened in 1978 and has two runways. The airport handles about 9.5 million passengers yearly - over its design capacity of 6 million passengers per year. Another terminal is due to be constructed to relieve this overload.
Da Nang International Airport is located in the center of the country. The airport originated during the 1930s and was a major US military base during the Vietnam war. Da Nang has two 10,000 foot runways and handles about 1 million passengers annually. About 40,000 of these passengers are international.
Run time is about 60 minutes. Format is NTSC DVD and region-free.
